Police are continuing to investigate following the theft of a vehicle this morning.
Prince George RCMP received a report of a pick up truck that had been stolen near the corner of 18th Avenue and Lyon Street at 8:10 a.m.
Minutes later a Prince George RCMP member in an unmarked SUV located the vehicle being driven on 20th Avenue near Massey Drive. An attempt to stop the vehicle occurred near 20th Avenue and Pine Street when a collision occurred between the stolen vehicle and the police vehicle. The suspect fled down Pine Street in the stolen vehicle until he collided with a cement barrier near the junction with Ford Avenue. The lone occupant of the vehicle fled on foot across Highway 97 until he was apprehended by police service dog Dero and members of the detachment’s Street Crew Section.
The suspect is a 41-year-old man currently residing in Prince George with previous police history in Houston and Saskatchewan.
