It’s standard practice for the city to recognize those who have 15 years of consecutive service to the municipality.
It’s not too often that city councillors are among those who have served for 15 years. Monday night two Prince George city councillors were recognized … Coun. Murry Krause and Coun. Brian Skakun.
Krause was first elected to council in 1996 and served until 1999. He was then re-elected in 2002 and his re-election in 2014 marked his fifth consecutive term. Counting his 1996-99 term, he has served 18 years on council. He has also served as president of the Union of British Columbia Municipalities.
Coun. Skakun, one of the most out-spoken councillors over the years, was also first elected in 2002 and is also serving his fifth consecutive term on council. Skakun, along with now mayor Lyn Hall, both first ran for council in 1999. Neither were successful that year.
Hall presented both Krause and Skakun with clocks Monday to commemorate their 15 years of service to the city.
