The City of Prince George is keeping the trails at Cottonwood Island Park closed to pedestrian traffic through the weekend due to increased water levels.
Overnight, water levels in some parts of the trail rose a few more inches and crews have placed barriers at the entrances to deter people from entering.
Although the trails are not flooded, the elevated water level has resulted in an increasing number of puddles and small ponds along the trails.
Signs and barricades are in place from the canoe launch until just south of the rail bridge.
The parking lots remain open.
Staff will monitor the river level over the weekend and notify media and residents when the trails are reopened.
