High water closes Cottonwood Island Park

Residents are advised that due to increased water levels along Cottonwood Island Park, the City of Prince George is closing trails in the park as a precautionary measure.

The trails are not flooded, but the elevated water level has resulted in some puddles and ponding.

Signs and barricades are being put in place to deter foot traffic from the canoe launch until just south of the rail bridge.

Both parking lots remain open at this time.

Staff will monitor the river level over the coming days and notify media and residents when the trails are reopened.
