Burns Lake CNC students graduate Friday

The Lakes District Campus of the College of New Caledonia (CNC) is celebrating the achievements of its students on Friday May 26.

The annual Celebration of Student Success and Awards Ceremony will take place at 1 p.m. in rooms 007 and 008. Students will be celebrating completion of the Class 1 driver training course, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Diploma and Welding Foundation program.  An Adult Dogwood Certificate will be presented in partnership with School District 91.

Two student speakers will share their stories of academic success during the ceremony, which will be followed by refreshments.

“This is an exciting time of year,” said CNC Lakes District Regional Principal Corinne George, in a press release.  “The Celebration of Student Success is a time for students to honor their hard work and achievements with family, friends and fellow classmates.”

The Lakes District Campus is also celebrating record enrollment numbers in its online and Continuing Education courses.  Since January of this year there have been almost three thousand enrollments recorded in a variety of courses from FASD online to vocational courses such as Occupational First Aid.

“It’s clear our online and Continuing Education courses are meeting the demands of the community,” said Alison Anderson, CNC Acting Dean of Community and Continuing Education.  “Our staff at the Lakes District campus is working hard to grow new programs, and we are thrilled by the overwhelming demand from the community”

The fall semester will see Business Management Certificate; Administrative Assistant; Trades Discovery; Adult upgrading; and the TARGET – (Techniques for Access, Reaching Goals, and Employee Training) program offered.
