The Prince George RCMP, the BC Sheriffs Service and Prince George Fire/Rescue, held a very successful car wash to raise money for Special Olympics BC on the weekend.
On Saturday May 20 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., members of these three public safety organizations were washing vehicles and selling 50/50 raffle tickets at Canadian Tire.
From start to finish there was a steady line-up of vehicles patently waiting their turn. After the last car was washed, the tally of the donations was in excess of $1,600.
Proceeds of the event will be added to money raised for the upcoming Law Enforcement Torch Run to be held June 6 at the Prince George RCMP Detachment. All of the money raised at that event will be donated to Special Olympics BC to support Prince George area athletes.
“A big thank you to all those that donated to this worthwhile cause, the generosity was overwhelming,” said Cpl. Craig Douglass, spokesperson for the Prince George RCMP. “We also want to thank the management and staff of Canadian Tire for donating supplies and their parking lot to this event and to Boston Pizza for surprising us with lunch.”
