Forest fire near Tete Jaune Cache

A forest fire near Tete Jaune Cache continues to burn out of control and has now reached 200 hectares in size.

The fire was discovered Tuesday afternoon. It is located on the south aspect, north of Highway 16 approximately five kilometres east of Tete Jaune Cache. There was substantial precipitation overnight that reduced any significant fire behaviour. However, due to aggressive winds yesterday, the size is estimated at 200 hectares.

Crews contained two spot fires south of Highway 16, and are currently working upslope to create hand guards.
The public is advised to be cautious due to smoke in the valley, and to check for road conditions.
