Human remains found near Dease Lake

Human remains found south of Dease Lake are believed to be those of Anthony Adevai, who went missing in the area late last year.

On Saturday May 6, a coordinated search by numerous volunteers from search and rescue teams from Stewart Search, Buckley Valley, Houston, Terrace Search and Kitimat located the human remains in the immediate area where Adevai’s vehicle was found abandoned on Tuesday November 29, 2016.

The planned search was conducted in the area along highway 37 approximately 140 kilometres south of Dease Lake. Searchers have located clothing and personal items believed to belong to Adevai however, the BC Coroners Service continues its investigation to confirm the identity of the found remains. Adevai’s family has been made aware of this discovery.

The BC Coroners Service has conduct of this investigation, however Dease Lake RCMP, North District Regional General Investigation Section and the Prince Rupert Forensic Identification Section are assisting in this matter.
