The City of Prince George is asking residents with inspiring event ideas to help the city and Tourism Prince George to celebrate the city by applying for a Celebrate Prince George Community Grant. Applicants have until May 15 at midnight to apply.

The Celebrate Prince George Community Grant was developed in partnership with Tourism Prince George to foster the Celebrate Prince George Summer and Winter Festivals that take place in July and February to create a festive atmosphere of seasonal entertainment and activities for residents and to increase visitation.

“The Celebrate Prince George Community Grant provides financial support to event planners and organizers who demonstrate that funding assistance will enhance their current event or help them to develop a new event that focuses on attracting visitors,” said the city’s Civic Event Coordinator Jennifer Tkachuk.

The overall objectives of the program include:

  • Maximizing public events in civic spaces
  • Showcasing public facilities
  • Increasing community pride by supporting local events and organizations providing entertainment and activities for locals and visitors
  • Creating a regional tourism draw with the long-term potential of creating known and marketable events for the north

Please visit the City’s website for further details including application information. Visit Tourism Prince George’s website for further information about the Celebrate Prince George Summer Festival.
