Search on for woman who may have jumped off John Hart Bridge

Efforts are underway to locate a person that may have jumped from the John Hart Bridge Sunday night.

Prince George RCMP received a report of woman possibly about to jump off the John Hart Bridge at about 8 p.m..  A passing driver observed a person jump from the west side of the bridge.

Extensive efforts were made to locate the person.  Officers and a police service dog searched the shore line of the Nechako River and various points along the Fraser River that were accessible.  A private helicopter operating in the area assisted in the search until it got dark.  Prince George Fire/Rescue Service and the BC Conservation Service also assisted.  The person was not located.

The person was described as:

  • Most likely female
  • Long blonde hair
  • Slight build

Search efforts resumed early this morning.  Prince George Search & Rescue have been activated and boats are on the river.  A helicopter is also being utilized.
