Nosing around my cold symptoms

It’s been a normal winter/spring for me health-wise.

By which I mean I got a bit of a cold in about October and it is still lingering as we get to the end of April.

It’s never gotten to the point where I had to miss work or even just spend the better part of a day in bed, but it’s never quite left.

I’m getting used to this every year. I can’t remember the last time I had a bad cold, but I also can’t remember the last time I got through a winter with no symptoms.

I have spoken with other people who have similar experiences every year, but I’ve noticed something different about my situation.

One woman said, “Yeah, I have a sore throat for a few months every year. Never too bad, but annoying.”

Another spoke about having a running nose for an extended period of time.

That’s when it struck me.

My case was different because my cold symptoms are different every year.

This year, it’s been a plugged nose as the main problem. Other years, I will have a light cough for several months, or just a slightly sore throat.

The nice thing about having a plugged nose as my main symptom this year is that it doesn’t affect my sleeping. I’ve had trouble sleeping for a number of years, but this past winter hasn’t been too bad.

I think not coughing (which usually happens just as you’re about to drift away) and not having a runny nose (which necessitates a large number of tissues in proximity) has definitely helped my sleep issues this year.

Of course, I still would like to get rid of this stuffed-up nose, but hey, why cut off your nose to spite your face?
