Cougars sign Liam Ryan

Prince George Cougars General Manager Todd Harkins announced today that the team has signed 2000-born forward Liam Ryan (New Westminster) to a standard WHL player agreement.

Originally selected by the Cougars in the seventh round (139th overall) in the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft, Ryan (6’0” and 180 pounds) is coming off a terrific second season in the B.C. Major Midget League where he served as an alternate captain for the Vancouver Northeast Chiefs. In 38 games he scored 15 goals and added 28 assists for 43 points along with 64 penalty minutes. A season prior with the Chiefs, Ryan had eight goals along with 21 assists for 29 points in 36 games. He represented Team B.C. in the 2015 Western Canadian Challenge Cup.

“He’s worked very hard over the past two seasons to put himself in this position. Since the day he was drafted he has continued to develop into a solid, impact player,” said Cougars General Manager, Todd Harkins. “Speed, skill and leadership are all major strengths to his game. He’s going to be a big part of our future successes and we are thrilled to have Liam and his family signed and committed to the Prince George Cougars.”

Liam Ryan joins Jackson Leppard, Jonas Harkins and Reid Perepeluk as representatives from the Cougars 2015 WHL Bantam Draft class that are signed and committed for next season.
