Woman arrested trying to evade police

One woman is in custody and the stolen vehicle she was driving has been recovered, following a late night attempt to evade police.

On Monday, at approximately 2 a.m., RCMP officers located a stolen Dodge Neon being driven on Carney Street. The vehicle had been stolen from Three Hills Alberta on March 31.  Officers activated emergency equipment in an attempt to stop the vehicle.  The driver accelerated at a high rate of speed and ran a red light at the intersection of Carney Street and Winnipeg Street.  Police did not pursue.

Just before midnight the same day, the Dodge Neon was observed driving westbound on North Nechako Road.  The driver of the vehicle accelerated directly at an occupied police vehicle.  The officer evaded the collision and the suspect fled towards Highway 97.  Moments later the vehicle was stopped attempting to drive up the off ramp from Highway 97.  The female driver was arrested.  Search of the vehicle found a small amount of cocaine and methamphetamine.

Shai Lee Brinsky-Creed, a 23-year-old Prince George resident, has been charged dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from a peace officer, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

Brinsky-Creed was held in custody overnight and will likely make her first appearance in Provincial Court later today.
