Gabrielle joins AHL’s Providence Bruins

A fifth player from the Prince George Cougars is off to the American Hockey League. Yesterday the AHL’s Providence Bruins announced that they have added forward Jesse Gabrielle to their roster.

The native of Moosomin, SK signed an entry level contract with the Bruins back in December, 2016 and is coming off his second straight season of scoring 35-or-more goals. In 61 games Gabrielle managed 35 goals along with 29 assists for 64 points. For a second straight season he was the recipient of the Dorothy Johnson Memorial Trophy awarded to the fan favorite player. In 250 career WHL games (With Brandon, Regina and Prince George) Gabrielle has managed 110 goals, 99 assists and 376 penalty minutes. In 2015-16 Gabrielle became the youngest Cougar ever to record 40 goals in a season.

Last season Gabrielle suited up in three games with the Providence Bruins on an Amateur Tryout contract. He is listed as number 18 for the Bruins who are next in action on Wednesday in Springfield.

Gabrielle joins the likes of Jansen Harkins (Manitoba Moose), Colby McAuley (San Jose Barracuda), Radovan Bondra (Rockford IceHogs), and Brendan Guhle (Rochester Americans), all of whom were in action yesterday for their respective American Hockey League teams.
