Two unanswered goals in the third period gave the Portland Winterhawks a 5-4 win over the Prince George Cougars Thursday.
The win evens the playoff series up at 2-2.
The Cougars came out firing on all cylinders to start the game, opening up a 2-0 lead by the halfway point of the first period on markers from Aaron Boyd and Jesse Gabrielle.
The Winterhawks, however, came storming back. Evan Weingar and Skyler McKenzie scored to knot the teams at two by the end of the first. Portland took the lead in the second period as Keegan Iverson got one past Cougars’ netminder Ty Edmonds.
Then it was time for the Cougars to roar back as Nikita Popaguev and Radovan Bondra each scored, giving the Cougars a 4-3 lead at the end of the second.
The third period belonged to the Winterhawks, however, as Matt Revel scored twice to put the Winterhawks ahead to stay.
The teams will be back in Prince George for Game 5 of the series on Saturday night. Game time is 7 p.m.
