Firearm incident leads to arrest

One man is in custody and facing a number of charges following a firearm report this past weekend.

On Sunday March 19, at approximately 10:40 a.m., the Prince George RCMP received a report of a man pointing a firearm on Claxton Crescent.  The suspect fled the area in a vehicle before police were called.

Police located the suspect vehicle near the corner of Enemark Crescent and Ospika Boulevard.  The driver failed to stop for police and fled the area at a high rate of speed.

Just after noon, the suspect was located and arrested on foot near the corner of Westwood Drive and Ferry Avenue.  The vehicle was located on Fairview Crescent and seized as part of the investigation.

Two Criminal Code search warrants were obtained and executed on both the vehicle and the suspect’s residence on Fairview Crescent.  Further evidence was located during the searches but a firearm was not found.  Police did locate and seize over $7,500 worth of clothing believed to have been stolen from at least one of the two break and enters that occurred at a commercial business on Domano Boulevard earlier this month.

Samuel Jacob Chapman, 31, has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

Chapman was held in custody and will make his first appearance in Provincial Court on Wednesday March 22.  Chapman recently relocated to Prince George from Kelowna.
