Woman found guilty of second-degree murder in Fort St. John

Lisa Miel has been found guilty of second degree murder in the death of 52-year-old Taylor man Kirk Morin.

Miel was found guilty a Fort St. John jury on Tuesday.

Miel was arrested September 6, 2015 after RCMP traffic services, while conducting a vehicle stop for unrelated reasons, found Miel driving Morin’s truck. The circumstances discovered after the stop led to Miel being detained by police. Further investigation led to the discovery of Morin’s body a short time later. Miel arrested and held in custody.

The trial began on February 6 and and wound up Tuesday.

A date for sentencing has not yet been set, however Miel remains in custody.
