Crash knocks out power to 1,387 homes

Close to 1,400 Prince George homes were in the dark, literally, Sunday night after a single-vehicle crash knocked out power west of Ospika Boulevard all the way out to Miworth.

At about 11:45 p.m. a pick up truck hit at utility pole, knocking plunging the area into darkness. Power was restored at about 7:30 a.m. Monday morning.

Foothills Boulevard was closed in both directions while police and emergency crews attended the scene. The male driver and only occupant of the truck was uninjured. Police say the driver lost control after driving over a patch of ice. A violation ticket was issued to the driver for speeding relative to conditions.
