Spirit of the Rivers Loppet goes Saturday

Stride & Glide Sports’ Spirit of the Rivers Loppet is Caledonia Nordic Ski Club’s local annual loppet.

It gets underway on Saturday, February 25, with a mass start at 10 a.m. at the Otway Nordic Centre. Come out and cheer for all the participants for this fun, recreational style, family oriented event. Everyone welcome as there are ski courses and categories for all.

Registration is open until noon Friday and is available online at Zone 4.

Courses will be modified due to current conditions and to keep everyone on the best snow the course has. Maps may change if conditions make it necessary to alter the courses. Currently they will be running a 2.5 kilometre, six kilometre, and 9/18km courses.

The weather has been challenging but groomers continue to work hard to improve conditions to ensure a successful loppet. The two day-old snow layer is starting to adhere to the ice layer giving better conditions every day.
