The Prince George Spruce Kings have announced that defenceman Tyler Anderson has been selected as one of the three finalists for the BCHL Defenceman of the Year award. Another round of voting will be conducted by the coaches in the league this week to determine the winner. Jake Stevens of the Victoria Grizzlies and Michael Ufberg of the Vernon Vipers are the other two finalists for the award.

Anderson leads the league in scoring amongst blueliners with 18 goals in 53 games, and leads the entire BCHL in PIM with 107. His point production has jumped dramatically with Prince George since joining the team from the West Kelowna Warriors, playing at nearly a point per game pace with 46 points in 47 games. On February 9th, he committed to play NCAA Div I hockey next season at Lake Superior State University.

The news comes ahead of the team’s final weekend of the regular season. They will play the Coquitlam Express Friday, the Langley Rivermen Saturday, and wrap up the season on Sunday against the Chilliwack Chiefs.
