Toddler found wandering in street returned home

A young child has been returned home after being found wandering on a Prince George street.

At about 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, police received a call about a child found near the corner of Union Street and Young Avenue.

A member of the public working in the area, found the three-year-old boy wandering in the street wearing nothing but rubber boots.  Police took custody of the child and a police service dog was deployed to assist in locating the child’s residence.

With the help of a Canada Post employee, the child’s residence was determined and caregivers located.  Officers have advised child welfare authorities.

“The Prince George RCMP would like to thank the members of the public that took the time to assist the child and the police in this situation,” said Cpl. Craig Douglass, spokesperson for the Prince George RCMP.  “Without their help, the results could have been much worse.”
