The number of building permits is up, however the value of the permits issued is down.
The city issued 19 building permits in January, up from 13 issued in January, 2016. The value of the permits issued this year is $1.7 million, down from the $2 million worth of permits issued in January last year.
There were two significant building permits issued in January, both worth $250,000 and both for tenant improvements. One was at 299 Victoria Street, the HSBC Tower, for the new Veteran’s Affairs office. The second was at 4141 Airport Road for the airport administration office.
