A bylaw coming before council Monday will open the door for a residential development north of Studio 2880.
The city is seeking to rezone the north portion of 2880 15th Avenue (approximately 0.3 ha) and 2744 15th Avenue to facilitate multiple residential development. The proposed development would be similar in form and character to the existing housing development located west of the site (i.e. Elizabeth Fry Society), according to a rezoning request going before council.
The two properties are designated Neighbourhood Corridor along the 15th Avenue street frontage. The intent of the designation is to provide local commercial nodes and increased residential densities that are compatible with the adjacent residential buildings.
The city wants to expand the Neighbourhood Corridor designation north to encompass the entire area of the two properties.
City administration believes that the existing uses would fit the intent of the Neighbourhood Corridor designation.
