Police say the accident occurred shortly before 10 p.m Monday on Highway 97 near Dragon Lake Road.
Once police arrive they discovered that a Ford F-350 pickup had collided head-on with an empty logging truck. One witness was identified and stated that the southbound Ford crossed into the path of the northbound logging truck. Evidence at the scene appear to support the eye witness account.
The driver and lone occupant of the pickup truck was pronounced deceased at the scene while the driver of the logging truck was taken to hospital with what is believed to be minor injuries.
The highway was closed in both directions while RCMP conducted their on-scene investigation and the highway has since been reopened.
While the investigation is in the early stages, police do not believe that speed or alcohol are contributing factors.
