The City of Prince George has reopened Cottonwood Island Park and the Heritage River Trail to the public with the exception of a section of the Heritage River Trail from Cameron Street to Spruce City Wildlife due to an abundance of ice on the trail.
Last month, the city activated a level-one emergency operations centre due to rising river levels and the possibility of an ice jam and closed the park and trail to the public.
The centre was deactivated a few weeks ago, but the park and trail remained temporarily closed in the interest of public safety.
