Dance to the World Hot Beats.
You can do just that on Saturday, February 4, during Coldsnap.
Dance to the World Hot Beats, set for the Ramada Ballroom, will feature Quique Escamilla, Buckman Coe and Circadian Rhythm.
The 2015 Juno winner for World Music Album of the Year, Quique is bringing the heat. From Chiapas, Mexico, now living in Toronto, the multi-instrumentalist and composer has elevated the World music scene in Canada as both a producer and collaborator. He has become a modern day troubadour for songs of social conscience and romance.
Drawing from R&B, Americana, rock steady and reggae, Buckman Coe and his band have lit up dance-floors in Canada, Australia, Taiwan, Indonesia, Oregon and Hawaii. His recent release, Malama Ka ‘Aina – a Hawaiian phrase meaning respect the land – is a gorgeous fusion of reggae, soul, and world music.
Circadian Rhythm is a local band that has been playing venues in and around the Prince George area since 2013. They work mainly as a show band with a strong focus on original music so chances are, you won’t catch them down at your local bar. What makes this band unique is its strong female vocalists and its distinct percussive background. Their music is heavily influenced by life experience. If you listen closely you can hear a story in every song.
You can hear, and see, all three on Saturday, February 4. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at Studio 2880 or online.
