Two people are in custody and a stolen vehicle has been recovered as a result of an alert officer early this morning.
At approximately 2 a.m. this morning, a member of the Prince George RCMP's General Duty Section observed what was believed to be a stolen pick up truck being driven on Foothills Boulevard near 15th Avenue.
Police say the vehicle accelerated north bound on Foothills at a high rate of speed. A few minutes later the vehicle was located in a ditch on Chief Lake Road near Highway 97. Two men were seen running from the vehicle. One suspect was arrested immediately. Police service dog Dero was brought in and the second suspect was tracked to the intersection of Highway 97 and Lehman Street, more than three kilometres away, where he was arrested without incident.
A 40-year-old man and a 26-year-old man have been held in custody and are expected to make their first appearances in Provincial Court tomorrow. Both are known to police.
The 2004 Ford F-350 pick up recovered at the scene was reported stolen from a commercial parking lot on Domano Boulevard in Prince George on January 3.
