Police very busy over the holidays

Police responded to approximately 100 calls a day over the nine-day period from December 23, 2016 to the morning of January 1, 2017.   

On the early morning of Friday December 23, police received a report of an assault that was called in from a residence on Upland Street.  Members attended and located an uncooperative female victim suffering from multiple injuries including bruises, cuts and cigarette burns.  The assault occurred somewhere else. 

Through investigation, five people were arrested and a search warrant was executed at a residence on the 1700 block of Pearson Avenue.  

Celia Robinson, 33, from Prince George, has been charged  with the following pointing a firearm, use of a firearm while committing an indictable offence, aggravated assault, assault causing bodily harm, robbery with a firearm, unlawful confinement, knowingly possess a firearm without a licence, uttering threats, and assault.

Mandi Lee Zacharuk, 28, from Prince George, has been charged with aggravated assault, assault causing bodily harm, unlawful confinement, robbery with a firearm, uttering threats, and assault.

Vanessa Kathleen Friesen, 30, from Prince George, has been charged by Provincial Crown Counsel with aggravated assault, assault causing bodily harm, unlawful confinement, robbery with a firearm, and uttering threats.

Ollie James Henyu, 34, from Prince George has been charged with intimidation of a justice system participant, uttering threats, and assault.

Remi Paul Gauthier, 52, from Prince George, has been charged with knowingly possessing a firearm without a licence.

 Robinson, Zacharuk, Friesen, and Henyu have been held in custody and will appear in Provincial Court later today.  Gauthier was released on a promise to appear for court on January 28.

Christmas Day B&E

On December 25 at approximately 2 p.m., the Prince George RCMP were called to a reported alarm at a locked compound on PG Pulpmill Road.  Officers attended and located evidence that the compound was broken into.  A police dog service team attended and tracked two suspects hiding under a large piece of equipment.  Both were taken into custody without incident.

Christopher Bradly Falconer, 35, has been charged with break and enter with intent, possession of break-in instruments, and two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking.

Earl Wade Johnson, 50, has been charged with break and enter with intent, possession of break-in instruments, and failing to comply with probation.

December 29

Just before 2 a.m. on Thursday December 29, the Prince George RCMP were called to a reported shooting at a residence on the 1500 block of Strathcona Avenue.

Officers attended and located a 44-year-old man suffering from what appeared to be wounds caused by shot gun pellets.  He was transported to hospital for treatment of what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

Indications are that at least two masked men forcibly entered the residence with a shotgun.  The victim resisted and was subsequently shot.  The suspects fled in an older pick up truck.  Although the motive of this attack is not yet known, it appears to be targeted.

December 31

On December 31 at approximately 10:30 p.m., the Prince George RCMP were called to a reported work place injury that occurred at a mining site near Hixon.  A 15-year-old boy suffered serious head injuries.  Police are continuing to investigate.
