A snowmobiler was killed in an avalanche south of Valemount Friday.
Valemount RCMP were called out to the Clemina area shortly after 1 p.m.
A man on a snowmobile had been caught in the avalanche and died as a result. BC Coroners Office and Search and Rescue (SAR) were immediately notified of the incident. SAR personnel attended and determined that the scene was too unstable and recovery efforts would resume when the scene could be made safe to return.
Avalanche Control from Jasper Alberta have been called to assist SAR. They are schedule to arrive Saturday December 31, to assess the scene and aid police and SAR with the recovery of the deceased male.
The investigation is ongoing and at this time no further information will be released as the recovery efforts continue.
