Pedestrian hit by car on Queensway

A 50-year-old man is recovering from injuries after being hit be a car yesterday.

RCMP say the accident occurred at about 4:40 p.m. at the corner of Queensway and Connaught Drive. An RCMP Citizen on Patrol volunteer witnessed the accident and reported it to police. He then administered first aid the injured man.

The pedestrian was transported to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.  The driver and witnesses were spoken to.

Investigators believe that the 43-year-old female driver of a small car had just turned onto Queensway from Patricia Boulevard when the man stepped out onto the road in front of her.  The pedestrian was not using a crosswalk and advised police he was in a hurry.  It was dark at the time of the collision and the pedestrian was wearing dark clothing.  Charges against the driver are not being considered at this time.

Police would like to remind pedestrians to wear reflective clothing, use marked crosswalks and always make eye contact with drivers before attempting to cross streets.
