Operation Red Nose volunteers delivered 200 rides in Prince George over the course of two nights on the weekend, its third weekend of operation this year.
On Friday, Dec. 9, 69 volunteers, including 16 road teams, provided 69 rides, driving 1,985 kilometres.
In comparison, in 2015 Operation Red Nose provided 97 rides on the same night, 111 in 2014 (a record for Night 5) and 84 in 2013.
On Saturday, Dec. 19, 63 volunteers and with the same number of teams as Friday, provided 131 rides, travelling 3,057 km.
In comparison, there were 163 rides on the same night in 2015 and 2014.
So far after six nights, Operation Red Nose has delivered 416 rides and travelled 11,925 km.
They’re back again this weekend, on Dec. 16 and 17.
As for volunteers, there are 233 people registered. Organizers are reminding those who’d like to help out on New Year’s Eve that they must get their application (which includes a Criminal Record Check) to the RCMP by Dec. 19 to give the Mounties enough time to process them prior to Dec. 31.
