Pair charged after ramming two police cars

The Prince George RCMP are continuing to investigate following the arrest of two persons believed to be responsible for the theft of a truck early Tuesday morning.

At approximately 6:30 a.m., the Prince George RCMP received a report of a stolen Chevrolet pick up truck from a residence on Quadrant Crescent off Queensway in Prince George. The vehicle had been stolen sometime overnight.

At approximately 3:45 p.m. the same day, members of the Prince George RCMP’s General Duty Section observed the stolen vehicle being driven along 20th Avenue. Multiple officers attempted to pull over the vehicle near the intersection of 20th and Queensway. The driver accelerated and collided with two police vehicles, one fully marked and the other unmarked.

The two occupants fled the vehicle on foot and did not comply with police instructions. The driver was subsequently apprehended with the assistance of police service dog Dero, while the passenger was arrested a short distance away after a brief foot chase with officers.

The youth male driver and the 19-year-old male passenger are facing a number of Criminal Code charges. Both will be held in custody until they can appear in Provincial Court later this week.

If you have any information about these Criminal offences, please contact the Prince George RCMP at (250)561-3300.
