One person is in custody following an armed robbery September 2.
At approximately 1:30 p.m., the Prince George RCMP were called out to a gas station on the 1800 block of 20th Avenue in Prince George.
Police say a man entered the business armed with a blunt object and demanded money from an employee. The employee co-operated and the suspect fled the business with a small amount of cash. The employee was not hurt.
A description was provided to officers patrolling the area. Within four minutes of the robbery, general duty officers with the assistance of the detachment’s police service dog section, located and arrested a man believed to be responsible for the robbery. The arrest was made without incident near the corner of 20th Avenue and Redwood Street, approximately two blocks away. The cash was immediately recovered and the weapon was located nearby with the assistance of a police service dog.
A 20-year-old Prince George man will be held in custody at least until his first court appearance. Robbery and uttering threats charges are anticipated.
