Leppard’s three-point night paces Cougars past Broncos

Jackson Leppard broke a 1-1 tie early in the third period, scoring his second goal of the season, as the Prince George Cougars knocked-off the Swift Current Broncos 3-1 Sunday afternoon, for their third-straight win. Josh Curtis added an insurance marker on the power-play in the third period, and Ethan Browne opened the scoring in the first period. Taylor Gauthier made 30-saves for his fourth win of the season.

Streaking: Jackson Leppard now has four points (2-2-4) in his last two games, dating back to October 14 against the Kootenay ICE. Leppard had two assists in his first nine games. Josh Curtis’ two points (1-1-2) Sunday extended his point streak to four-games. He has four goals and seven points during the streak.

Brick Wall: Taylor Gauthier picked up his second-consecutive win Sunday, stopping 30-shots for his fourth win of the season. In his last two starts, Gauthier has now stopped 76 of 78 shots. That’s a .974 save percentage over his last two starts. Now through nine games, he owns a .915 save percentage.

Home Cooking: The Cougars picked up their second home win of the season Sunday. It was their first since their home opener on September 28against Kelowna. They’re 2-3-0-0 in their first five home games. Looking ahead, 10 of their next 13 games are at home.
