The City of Prince George is opening up the space in
front of City Hall to local food trucks and vendors
each Friday for the remainder of the summer.
The city has launched “Foodie Fridays” to help
support local business, revitalize the downtown, and
make use of the space in front of City Hall. Foodie
Fridays will be held in Veterans Square from 11 a.m.
to 2 p.m. each Friday from August 5 until September
30.
“The idea was brought to staff’s attention by local
businesses interested in adding a new dimension to the
city’s downtown to complement the already fantastic
restaurants and cafés," said Mayor Lyn Hall in a press
release. "Council and administration are committed to
downtown revitalization and to fostering community
pride and this is an important step towards that. I have
always said that the area in front of City Hall is the
best front yard in the city. Foodie Fridays helps to
make use of that, and gives the thousands of people
who work in the downtown area a pleasant, social,
outdoor place to go for a casual lunch.”
A few of the local food trucks and vendors who have
already signed up include the Frozen Paddle, Spicy
Greens, Shiraz Café and Restaurant, and Smokehouse
on the Run.
"I am very happy that the City of Prince George is
undertaking this new initiative because it is a chance
to show off the diversity of Prince George's downtown
and I encourage all businesses to support it," said
Reza Akbari, owner of Shiraz Café and Restaurant in
downtown Prince George, which earlier this year won
the 2016 Premier's People's Choice Award from Small
Business BC. "As a restaurant owner, I embrace this
as a new opportunity to advance my own business,
meet new customers, and help to revitalize Prince
George's downtown and make it more walkable,
vibrant, and fun."
Restaurants and food vendors who are interested in
participating in Foodie Fridays are encouraged to

Services, at 250.561.7688 or by emailing
