Haisla Chief Councillor speaks in favour of LNG project

With close to 30 band members and supporters behind her, Haisla Chief Councillor Crystal Smith, spoke passionately in support of LNG during a news conference at the BC Natural Resources Forum in Prince George Wednesday. The Haisla are one of the 20 First Nations who have signed a benefit agreement with Coastal GasLink, which is building a natural gas pipeline from Dawson Creek to Kitimat. Smith urged outside organizations, including the Union of B.C. Indian Chiefs, to let the Wet’suwet’en people sort out their internal issues themselves.
