Kelly Road Secondary School went into lockdown mode just before 9 a.m. this morning when it was reported a youth was at the school with a weapon.
When police arrived, they located a weapon and a youth was taken into custody. The lockdown was cancelled shortly thereafter. No one was injured as a result of this incident and there are no further safety concerns.
“Incidents like this within our schools are taken very seriously by the police and the quick response by our officers ensured this matter was resolved safely,” said Cpl. Carmen Kiener of the Prince George RCMP, in a news release.
