UPDATE: Single-vehicle crash on Highway 16 near Boundary Road

A single-vehicle crash at about 3 a.m. Tuesday closed the eastbound lane of Highway 16 near Boundary Road.

Police say a full size pickup truck hit a light standard.  This was the only vehicle involved in the collision and was substantially damaged.  The lone occupant, a 20-year-old man, was removed from the vehicle and transported to hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

A RCMP collision reconstruction expert attended the scene to assist with gathering evidence.  It appears that the vehicle was traveling eastbound at the time of the collision.  Alcohol is believed to be a factor, say police.  The investigation is continuing and will be led by the Prince George RCMP’s Municipal Traffic Services Section.

Traffic was disrupted near the scene for most of the morning, however the scene is now cleared and regular traffic flow has resumed.

If you have any information or witnessed this incident, please contact the Prince George RCMP at (250)561-3300.
