Two house fires overnight in Prince George

Prince George Fire Rescue Services were called out to two fires this morning.

At about 2:20 a.m. they were called out to an abandoned house in the 1700 block of Fifth Avenue where fire crews encountered heavy smoke and flames coming from the back side of the building. Firefighters put the blaze out, but the house was heavily damaged.

Shortly after that, fire crews were called to a residence in the  2200 block of Redwood Street to a fire, which had started in the laundry room. The fire was contained to the laundry room, which was extensively damaged. The rest of the house also suffered smoke damage.
