We asked all city council candidates to fill out a questionnaire so you may get to know them a little better. We will be running their answers between now and election day.

Cori Ramsay is running for a seat on Prince George city council.

I have a background in finance and strategic communications. I’m the board chair for the Two Rivers Gallery, Treasurer for CFUR Radio, and an Alumni Senator at UNBC.

Why are you running for council?

I’m running for council because I believe it’s important for young people to get involved in how our city is run so was can run it in the future; sustainability of council and succession planning is key for our success.

What do you think is the most important issue facing the City of Prince George today? Why?

Homelessness in the downtown core and a lack of affordable housing options are both significantly impacting our city currently.

Please rank the importance of the following issues facing the city (1 being the most important).
  1. Safety
  2. Social Housing
  3. Crime
  4. Infrastructure
  5. Recreation (pools, arenas etc.)
  6. Parks
  7. Economic Development
  8. Road Maintenance
  9. Snow Removal
  10. Transit
  11. Downtown Revitalization
  12. Population Increase
  13. City Image
Do you support the policy that pays senior exempt staff overtime? Why, or why not?

I support following what is written in the current policy and renegotiating when the current policy is up for renewal.

What do you believe is the role of a city councillor as it pertains to the day-to-day operations of city hall?

I believe the role of a city councillor is to represent the voice of the citizens.

Council recently set the business licence fee for cannabis retailers and producers at $1,000. Do you think this fee is too high, too low, about right and will you support a cannabis retail store application that meets city requirements?

I will support cannabis retail applications that meet city requirements. I think we should review the fee after a six month period and evaluate if it is appropriate or not.

The city is currently reviewing the hours to keep Masich Place Stadium open. Do you agree with the current hours of 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., pending scheduled usage and, if so should those hours be maintained?

I agree with keeping and maintaining Masich place stadium open during the set hours.

We often hear about government being open and transparent. What does that mean to you? Once again, be specific.

Transparency to me means working to engage stakeholders and make sure residents have a say about services and spending with their tax payer dollars.

Why should people vote for you?

I am a hard working, dedicated young business professional committed to working to build my city up and leave a legacy we can all be proud of.

If you could accomplish one thing over the next term, what would that be?

Bettering the quality of life for all residents of Prince George.
