Police seeking dashcam footage from near skate park Monday

Police continue to investigate the suspicious occurrence near the skateboard park on Massey Drive yesterday.

The Prince George RCMP are requesting the public’s assistance with their investigation into the incident. Any motorists with dash cams that were recording between noon and 2:30 p.m. on July 23, in the areas of Massey Drive, Winnipeg Street, Carney Street, the Parkwood Mall or 15th Avenue are asked to please contact the Prince George RCMP. Investigators are looking to identify the parties involved and determine where they had come from prior to the reported incident and where they went after that.   

Shortly after 1 p.m. Monday near the skateboard park on Massey Drive, witnesses a man in a van stop in the turn lane at the intersection of Massey Drive and Carney Street, and pick up a girl believed to be between 12 and 14 years old. The witnesses believed that she may have been in distress and phoned police. The van was last seen headed northbound on Carney Street towards 15th Avenue.

The man is described as being 50 years of age, 5’10” tall, with grey hair and scruffy facial hair. He was wearing a grey shirt with ripped jeans, and driving an older model grey minivan. The girl was described as 12-14 years old, 5’2” tall, wearing a checkered tank top, and having short brown hair with blue streaks in it. The relationship between the two is unknown at this time.

Investigators would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this incident and to the person(s) involved to ensure the safety of all parties.
