Quesnel RCMP busy over Billy Barker Days weekend

Quesnel RCMP were kept busier than in past years with calls for service over the Billy Barker Weekend.

From 6 p.m. on Thursday July 19 until Monday July 23 at 6 a.m. Quesnel RCMP responded to the following:

  • 173 calls for service
  • 33 people were arrested for causing a disturbance or being intoxicated and unable to care for themselves in public
  • 15 people were arrested for other criminal code offences
  • 1 man was arrested for assaulting two police officers
  • 49 people were held in cells
  • 6 Immediate Roadside Prohibitions for alcohol related offences were issued

In Comparison to the same time period over Billy Barker Days in 2016:

  • 149 calls for service
  • 33 people were arrested for causing a disturbance or being intoxicated and unable to care for themselves in public
  • 5 people were arrested for other criminal code offences
  • 38 people were held in cells
  • 4 Immediate Roadside Prohibitions for alcohol related offences were issued
