Council OK’s Knight Crescent duplexes

A group of Knight Crescent residents couldn’t convince city council to halt a duplex development in their neighbourhood.

Council approved plans by Bruce Kidd Real Estate Holdings to rezone four lots in the area to accommodate duplexes.

A 45 signature petition was presented to city council opposing the plan.

“We are concerned that building duplexes will bring into our quiet neighbourhood an increase an influx of traffic,” reads the petition. “Also having duplexes brings in more unknown people with the possibility of the crime rate going up exponentially. It will also very likely increase property value which, in turn, will increase property taxes. An added effect of these buildings going up is the removal of the residents currently residing in the houses on the lots in question.”
