The BC Hockey League released the 2018/2019 Regular Season Schedule today, as the Prince George Spruce Kings kick off their 23rd BCHL season and 46th in franchise history on September 7 against the defending RBC Cup Champion Chilliwack Chiefs.
The Spruce Kings will raise their 2017/2018 banners in a special pre-game ceremony, along with a tribute to long time equipment manager Malcolm Poburan. The Chiefs and Spruce Kings will play again the following night.
The Coquitlam Express will be the opponent in the second week of the season for two games on Friday September 14 and Saturday, September 15, before the BCHL Showcase in Chilliwack September 20-22.
The Spruce Kings will play 22 of 28 home games on weekend dates, with 12 Friday’s and 10 Saturday’s on the schedule. The team will see a return to Thursday nights for 3 games, while playing three Wednesday night games as well.
Dates to remember for the 2018/2019 season include Thursday October 4, when the BCHL Fred Page Cup Champion Wenatchee Wild return for a highly anticipated rematch of last year’s final. The Powell River Kings will be in town the following Thursday, October 11 in the Coastal Conference Championship rematch. The Surrey Eagles make their first trip to the Rolling Mix Concrete Arena on Friday December 14 and Saturday December 15.
The team opens up 2019 on the road before returning Friday, January 11 against the Cowichan Valley Capitals. The regular season wraps up at home with the Chilliwack Chiefs in town on Friday February 22 for Fan Appreciation Night, and Saturday February 23.
