City to host 2020 NCLGA convention

The city’s bid to host the 2019 North Central Local Government Association (NCLGA) convention has been rejected.

The rejection, however, came with a suggestion from the association that city host the 2020 convention.

Mayor Lyn Hall told council Monday that he was so excited about hosting in 2020, that he said ‘yes’ to the NCLGA. However, council will make it official with a letter to the NCLGA.

Prince George, which hosted the convention three years ago, lost out to Williams Lake and the Cariboo Regional District in the bid to host the 2019 convention.

“Rest assured that this was not an indication of our view of Prince George as a host, or the quality of your bid,” wrote Shaely Wilbur, NCLGA president in a letter to council. “Rather, it was a combination of circumstances (the fact that Prince George hosted the event just three years ago and Williams Lake hasn’t for over a decade was certainly a consideration).”
