A woman is dead following a serious collision involving a logging truck, a moose, and an SUV on Highway 16 between Terrace and Prince Rupert. The driver of the SUV suffered serious injuries. The driver of the logging truck suffered minor injuries.
At approximately 7 p,m, on Feb 14 on Highway 16 an eastbound empty logging truck struck a moose, lost control, and then collided with a westbound Fisheries and Oceans Canada SUV. The passenger of the SUV, a civilian employee with Fisheries and Oceans Canada from Prince Rupert, was deceased at the scene. The driver of the SUV was transported to hospital via BC Ambulance with serious injuries. The driver of the logging truck was also transported to hospital via BC Ambulance with minor injuries.
Highway 16 was shut down from 7 p.m. last night, Feb 14, until 4 a.m. this morning. West Pacific Region Traffic Services are continuing the investigation. The Integrated Collision Analyst and Reconstructionist Services, Ministry of Highways and Transportation, Terrace Fire Department, Terrace and Prince Rupert Ambulance Service, and Worksafe BC assisted at the scene.
