When ideas play hard to get

There are some days where I sit down to write this column, and the words just seem to flow.

I have an idea of what I want to wrote about, and things just go from there.

This is not one of those days.

I tried the past couple of days to come up with a topic which would allow for the free flow of thought, leaping nimbly from one theme to another, amazing all my readers with my scintillating choice of words and my impeccable logic in making my points clearly and concisely.

Then a voice in the back of my mind said, “Yeah, like you’ve ever written a column like that.”

I tried thinking about topics I could write about, even for just a short piece, and make it a Random Ramblings (which this might still turn into).

I thought about writing a column about nothing, but then remembered the King of Nothing, Jerry Seinfeld, is coming here in May, and I didn’t want to embarrass him by coming up with wittier thoughts than he might have. (OK, now I’m hallucinating.)

I thought about writing about the weather this winter, but realized that in the short time between when I finished writing the column and when you read it, there would probably have been at least two new weather systems coming through the city.

One thing I do want to mention before I forget: Congratulations to the three Prince George women going to the Winter Olympics. Biathletes Megan Tandy and Sarah Beaudry and snowboard cross competitor Meryeta O’Dine will all be in South Korea next month, proudly wearing the Canadian flag.

Also, for those of you who listen to CFIS radio on a regular basis, the sports talk show Friday Night Lights is no more. It has now moved to Thursday at the same time, 6 p.m., and is now known as Post to Post.
