Re/Max kicks in $120K for Blackburn adventure park

The Blackburn Community Association is well on its way to making the Blackburn bike park a reality, thanks to Re/Max Centre City Realty.

The company, and Brent Marshall, owner of Remax, has pledged $120,000 to the project over a 24-month period for the development of an all wheels adventure park at Blackburn Park located between the community center and the Elementary School. It will be called the Re/Max Adventure Park.

Blackburn Community Association presented the idea of the project development to mayor and council in September where it received unanimous support to develop a portion of the City of Prince George Blackburn Park into an all-ages bike/adventure park.

Re/Max Centre City Realty has recognized the importance of community involvement and kicked off their commitment by bringing in a park designer from Canadian Ramp Company to Prince George in leading a community consultation. Canadian Ramp Company will provide professional design services geared to create a completely custom design that is unique to the community.

The Blackburn Community Association is now in the process of distributing a community engagement survey for input on what community users, specifically youth would like to see in the park, as far as equipment, such as pump tracks, ramps, etc.

As with any community project, the success of the project is dependent on volunteers and sponsors.

“We are off to a great start but we need the community to get involved and be part of the design,” Michelle Kenny, Blackburn Community Association board member. “By contributing they become part of something bigger; improving the park and becoming a community builder.”
