Events set to mark National Tree Day

Wednesday is National Tree Day and there are a couple of events on tap to mark the day.

There will be a brief ceremony at the Duchess Park playground as the Prince George Chamber Commerce, along with the city, CN, Pacific Institute for Climate Solutions, the Prince George Air Improvement Roundtable, and the University of Northern British Columbia mark the completion of CN’s carbon reduction project for business. There will be some brief speeches, the dedication of two trees in the park, followed by a reception at the chamber office on Vancouver Street.

At 11:30 a.m. acting mayor Garth Frizzell will make an announcement at Veteran’s Plaza, on behalf of the city, along with representatives from CN and Tree Canada.

The event also will provide information about new tree planting programs in Prince George, primarily along Ospika and around CN Centre, that are being funded by various organizations and corporations.
