Young Canadian Music Festival slated for city

The Community Arts Council of Prince George, The Prince George Symphony Orchestra and The Prince George Conservatory of Music, are presenting the first-ever Prince George Young Canadian Music Festival, slated for October 20-22.

The festival will feature co-cost workshops and performance opportunities for local young musicians age 19 and under.

Students will have the opportunity to work with top music professionals as well as the chance to perform alongside the PGSO and PGCM faculty.

Workshops will take place on Friday, October 20 at the PGCM, at 3555 Fifth Avenue.

On Saturday the October 21, the PGCM will be hosting the PGSO’s annual youth concerto competition at 2 p.m. At 7 p.m. there will be a faculty recital featuring selected workshop participants as well as PGSO members and PGCM faculty.

Finally, on Sunday October 22 at 2 p.m., the PGSO’s O Canada! concert will feature selected workshop participants both in the orchestra and as soloists. All events will be free to participants, additionally families of participants will receive a discounted ticket price of $15 for the Sunday PGSO concert.
